The interfacial interaction was quantitatively evaluated and found to consistently increase with increasing MimMP. The mechanical performance and abrasion resistance of the modified vulcanizates improved considerably. The remarkable improvements were mainly ascribed to the improved interfacial Selleckchem H 89 structure comprised of MimMP-silica hydrogen bonding and MimMP-rubber covalent bonds via thiol-ene chemistry. “The formation of laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) upon irradiation of fused silica with multiple irradiation
sequences consisting of five Ti:sapphire femtosecond (fs) laser pulse pairs (150 fs, 800 nm) is studied experimentally. A Michelson interferometer is used to generate near-equal-energy double-pulse sequences with a temporal pulse delay from -20 to +20 ps between
the cross-polarized individual fs-laser pulses (similar to 0.2 ps resolution). The results of multiple double-pulse irradiation sequences are characterized by means of Scanning Electron and Scanning Force Microscopy. Specifically in the sub-ps delay domain striking differences in the surface morphologies can be observed, indicating the importance of the laser-induced free-electron plasma in the conduction band of the solids for the formation of LIPSS. “Cationic polyacrylamide-grafted starch (St-g-CPAM) flocculant
was PLX4032 prepared by using corn starch and acrylamide (AM) as monomers, dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride (DMDAAC) as cationic monomer through solution polymerization. The effects of initiator, reaction temperature, and monomer concentration on flocculation, the efficiency of grafting, and the yield of grafting were investigated. The results show that the optimal conditions of the polymerization are as follows: the concentration of ceric ammonium nitrate is 0.5%, the reaction temperature is 60 degrees C, the concentration Selleck IWR-1-endo of total monomer is 20%, and the monomer ratio between AM and DMDAAC is 7 : 3. The flocculation capability was characterized by turbidity reduction. The thermal behavior, chemical structure, and microstructure of St-g-CPAM were also investigated by thermal gravimetric, IR, and SEM analyses. (C) 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. “The physical properties of a periodic distribution of absorbent resonators is used in this work to design a tunable wideband bandstop acoustic filter. Analytical and numerical simulations as well as experimental validations show that the control of the resonances and the absorption of the scatterers along with their periodic arrangement in air introduce high technological possibilities to control noise. Sound manipulation is perhaps the most obvious application of the structures presented in this work.
